Godwin promotes Marcus Phayer to Development Director, Industrial and Logistics

Marcus Phayer, Development Director, Industrial and Logistics

National property business Godwin Developments today announces that it has promoted Marcus Phayer to the position of Development Director, Industrial and Logistics, having grown the company’s pipeline capability to over 1m sq. ft. of space, with an estimated end value of over £250m.

Marcus heads up Godwin’s Industrial and Logistics division which focuses on delivering best-in-class development opportunities with strong ESG credentials. The division targets a mix of large-scale strategic land promotions, sites with outline planning for speculative development, and the repositioning of well-located last-mile sites that have potential for refurbishment or redevelopment.

Marcus oversees all stages of the property development process in the division – from site identification and deal structure to planning promotion, delivery, lettings and fundraising supported by an expert in-house team.

Commenting on his promotion, Marcus said: “Leading Godwin’s industrial and logistics portfolio growth has been rewarding, and I am excited to step into this new role as we continue to establish our presence in this sector of the market.

“Our core strategy for industrial and logistics is to secure prime sites, located in close proximity to key motorway and A road networks, where supply is constricted and there is clear unsatisfied occupier demand. We are focusing on the creation of modern, best-in-class institutional-grade assets, built to the highest ESG standards, that incorporate green spaces, biodiversity and social value principles from the start.”

Matt Chandler, Managing Director at Godwin Developments, said: “Despite recent headwinds, there are still significant opportunities in well-established distribution corridors, close to major population centres and transport networks.

“We have ambitious plans for the sector and are delighted that Marcus will be spearheading this drive, working with partners across the industry to grow our team and portfolio of projects nationwide”.

Joining Godwin from major industrial and logistics business Tritax Symmetry, Marcus has over a decade of experience in the sector, having previously also worked at Graftongate, CBRE and Cushman and Wakefield.
